About 100 youth took to the streets of Ile-a-la-Crosse over the weekend, looking to raise awareness about drug and alcohol abuse in their community.
According to event organizer Donny Favel, the students prepared for the walk by making signs and discussing the ongoing drug and alcohol problem in the North.
Favel says that many of the kids are tired of seeing their peers’ preoccupation with the “party life”.
He says people joined the march as the youth made their way through the community — but adds that a few residents voiced their displeasure with the proceedings from their yards.
