RCMP Quash Rumours Of Predators On Reserves

The RCMP say they have no evidence that three males in a white van have been preying on children on reserves in the Prince Albert, Shellbrook and Spiritwood areas.

Sgt. Carole Raymond says they have received one complaint regarding a child being approached by men in a van on an unidentified reserve last month — but she says it’s still under investigation.

Rumours have been circulating for weeks that a number of children on several reserves have been victimized, and that some of them have even been sexually assaulted.

But Raymond says, so far, those reports are just unsubstantiated rumours.

Raymond says it is important if someone notices suspicious activity to report it to police immediately — but she notes officers have been unable to track down anyone with first-hand knowledge of the rumours being circulated.
