A spokesman for the Ministry of Justice says it will not be filing charges against a northern mining operation.

In May of 2007 a miner died at the Seebee gold mine near La Ronge.

An investigation was launched and a report prepared by

occupational health and safety determined better training

was needed to keep workers out of potentially dangerous areas.

The file was then handed to Justice which reviewed whether criminal charges should be laid.

However the manager of strategic communications for the department, Andrew Dinsmore, says they’ve decided not to proceed.

The company that runs the mine, Claude Resources, is also appealing the notice of contravention that was filed against it as well.
