A 34-year-old man was shot by an RCMP officer in Southend over the weekend.
The Mounties say he was wielding a weapon considered dangerous to the public when he was shot Saturday afternoon.
He was eventually transported to a hospital in Saskatoon for surgery, and is expected to make a full recovery.
The officer that shot him is described as an experienced female officer, who was on her own when she responded to a call of a disturbance close to the Southend RCMP detachment.
RCMP spokesperson Sgt. Carole Raymond won’t say how many times the man was shot — but says that issue will be part of a probe conducted by an independent investigator.
Raymond also says the RCMP plan to discuss the incident with community members in the very near future.
