The Saskatchewan Indian Institute of Technologies has signed another partnership agreement that will bring 24 of its students into the health care field.
The SIIT signed an agreement with the Saskatoon Health Region earlier today.
As a result, the new health aide workers will begin a one-year practicum on Monday.
When it’s finished, they will have full-time jobs.
Wendy Lynn Lerat, SIIT Vice-President of Student Services and Academics, says young First Nations women now have an opportunity to change their lives and give back to their communities.
SIIT has also recently signed partnership agreements with Enbridge to give students job and training opportunities in the oil and gas field, and with Lockheed Martin, Boeing and Rockwell Collins for aviation training.
