A Metis business student hopes her travels to Peru will encourage other Aboriginal students to pursue similar opportunities in the future.
Gabrielle Scrimshaw of Duck Lake is a third year Edwards School of Business student at the University of Saskatchewan — and she is one of four Saskatchewan students on Junior Team Canada.
Each had to get sponsorship from local businesses for this economic mission to Peru, and in return, will prepare market reports for their sponsors.
Scrimshaw says the trip isn’t a holiday, and there will be plenty of work to do after she gets back.
Scrimshaw and her team left the province yesterday, and will be in Peru for three weeks.
She is one of only three Aboriginal students who have gone on the trip in the 17 years the program has run.
