The Poundmaker Cree Nation has suspended a council member for alleged misconduct.
Bryan Tootoosis is accused of the unauthorized distribution of false and misleading communication to the First Nation’s membership and the public.
A letter dated July 12 from Chief Duane Antoine and signed by two councillors, Tootoosis is suspended with pay, pending the outcome of an internal review.
The First Nation’s legal team has sent a notice to Indigenous Services Canada, informing them of the suspension.
Tootoosis is accused of cyber-bullying, breach of confidentiality and unethical invoicing of personal expenses. None of the allegations have been proven.
