A long running Prince Albert show is looking to get people to come out and audition to take part.
The Voices of the North Showcase, which is part of the Prince Albert Winter Festival is set to go as part of the festival in February. However, before the show can get underway organizers are looking for talent who are interested in performing.
Sheryl Kimbley, who is co-producing the show said they will be putting on auditions on Oct. 28-29 at the Métis Nation-Saskatchewan Western Region Two office in Prince Albert.
“It’s just first come first serve, you register when you get there,” she said.
The shows organizers will have some equipment on hand to help people who are there to audition, including karaoke and DJ equipment. Kimbley said people who are coming to try out are also encouraged to bring what they need.
“If you want to come and audition solo with your own accompaniment, you can do that, or you can use your own backup track,” she said.
The show is open to people of all ages and Kimbley said all genres of music are welcome as well. She explained in the past Voices of the North has had performers ranging from rap to opera.
“We want to show a really good example of all that we are within Indigenous music, so we’re trying to do the best we can to cover all of that,” said Kimbley.
In total there are spots for around 12 to 15 performers in the show. Kimbley said the decision about who gets to be in the show is made by a panel of judges with a range of different tastes.
“We make sure that they (judges) have a lot of experience and bring to the table their own likes and dislikes, so that it’s fair for everybody,” she said.
