A musician from the Black Lake Denesuline First Nation is set to appear on “Canada’s Got Talent”.

Rebecca Strong, who is from Stony Rapids, but grew up in Prince Albert said its a dream come true to audition for the show.

“I always dreamt of being on one,” Strong explained. “So, when I got the opportunity to send in my application, I was really excited.”

Music has always been in her blood. As a child she sang in a band with her father, who she said was her inspiration towards music.

The band, Thunder and the Skydancers was Strong’s launching pad. She would later form a band with her sisters called the Strong Sisters, before going solo.

“I was very nervous,” Strong said of her on-stage audition. “It was one of the biggest moments for a break in my career. A lot was on the line when I was on stage.”

Strong was very coy about her performance, encouraging people to watch the show.

“Canada’s Got Talent” will premiere Tuesday on CityTV. The show will have a $1 million prize for the winner.

Strong’s performance will be held on March 26. She said she would hold watch parties with family and friends each Tuesday night. The finale of the show will air May 14.
