No Sign Of Re-Used Syringes In Province’s North

The chief medical health officer for northern Saskatchewan says he doubts any clinics in the north have been re-using syringes.

Dr. James Irvine says unlike Lloydminster, Prince Albert and Regina, northern health facilities aren’t required to treat high volumes of patients.

He says that seems to be the circumstances under which the practice first materialized.

Irvine says a comprehensive review is underway to see if any syringes have been re-used in the three northern health regions.

So far, he says they haven’t found any occurrences.
