International aersospace company Boeing has provided a sizable investment into the Saskatchewan Indian Institute of Technology.
On Wednesday, Boeing announced a $17 million investment to expand SIIT’s Saskatoon Aviation Learning Centre.
Boeing was initially part of the investment that helped launch the learning centre in 2010.
“Boeing has demonstrated time and again its commitment to workforce diversification and investment in Indigenous businesses and institutions,” SIIT President Riel Bellegarde was quoted in a media release about the investment. “This contribution signifies more than just financial support; it represents a pathway to empowerment, employment and economic reconciliation.”
Bellegarde went on to say he believes this new investment will help Indigenous people become an “integral” part of the aerospace workforce moving forward.
