The City of Prince Albert is facing a hefty fine for a workplace injury which occurred in 2022.
On April 25, the city pleaded guilty in Prince Albert Provincial Court to one violation of The Occupational Health and Safety Regulations, 2020.
A release sent out today states that the city failed to ensure workers were using a proper fall protection system in an area where a worker could fall three metres or more, or there was a possibility for an injury from a fall of less than three metres.
The charges stemmed from an incident on September 22, 2022, where a worker was seriously injured when they fell over three metres while trying to dislodge a hose nozzle.
As a result, the court imposed a fine of $67,857.14 with a surcharge of $27,142.86, for a total amount of $95,000.
Along with the one violation, two other charges were dropped.
