On July 5, 2024, at approximately 12:45 p.m., Battlefords RCMP received a report of a two-vehicle collision on Highway #4, south of Cochin, SK.
Emergency crews responded immediately with local fire, EMS, and STARS.
On initial investigation, it was determined that a van and truck collided.
The driver of the van and two passengers were declared deceased at the scene by emergency crews. They have been identified as a 48-year-old female, a 5-year-old male, and a 6-year-old male, all from Flying Dust First Nation. An adult female passenger from the van was taken to the hospital with injuries described as serious in nature.
Their next of kin have been notified, and our thoughts are with their families during this difficult time.
The adult male driver, who was the sole occupant of the truck, was airlifted by STARS to the hospital with injuries described as serious in nature.
Sections of Highway #4 were closed off the day of the accident but have since fully reopened the highway.
The Battlefords RCMP is continuing to investigate the incident with the assistance of a Saskatchewan RCMP collision reconstructionist.
