A warning is being sent out to residents in the Creighton and Denare Beach area to prepare for evacuation.
The fire known as the Wilson fire, was started by a lightning strike and has grown to around 330 hectares in size.
The fire is currently burning within 10 kilometers of Denare Beach and Creighton and according to the Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency the blaze is considered not contained.
The village of Denare Beach is concerned about highway access and possible power outages.
The town of Creighton will be setting up a fresh air centre for vulnerable people with health issues. They are providing transportation if required you just need to call the town to make arrangements. The town is working on their emergency plan and requires residents to pre-register in the event of any future evacuations are ordered. you can access the website by going to https://app.saskecs.ca/. You will need a valid email address to pre-register. If a evacuation is ordered in the future, you will only need to log into the website and click on the banner with the community name (This banner will only appear if there is a evacuation ordered). A registration centre has been set-up at the Sportex lobby if you need assistance, prefer to register in person, or have questions regarding the process. Staff will be onsite daily from 9:00 a.m. until 8 p.m. until Sunday July 14.
DO NOT operate drones at any time in the area of the fires. If drones are found to be flying in the fire area, helicopters and water bombers may be grounded for safety. Charges may be laid if you are found operating a drone and it is negatively affecting the firefighting efforts.
Municipal and provincial fire bans are in place which includes all open fires but excludes propane and briquette barbeques.
