Northlands College is rolling out a new program at their La Ronge campus thanks to a recently signed memorandum of understanding.

The MOU, which was signed between Northlands College and Cape Breton University, will see the Master of Business Administration in Community Development delivered at Northlands.

The program will be delivered on weekends to accommodate working professionals.

“The vast majority of individuals who will be interested in the program are currently employed, so we wanted to make sure there’s some flexibility built into the program,” said Northlands College president and CEO, Karsten Henriksen.

The program focuses on applying business and management skills through the lens of community economic development and is unique in Canada.

“The Cape Breton MBA program is actually the only MBA program in Canada that has a focus on community economic development at its core. For northern Saskatchewan, making sure that we have a solid blend between traditional academics in a traditional MBA program but also that emphasis on economic development from a leadership, governance, and management perspective,” explained Henriksen.

Northlands College, in partnership with Cape Breton University, will be holding information sessions regarding the program in the fall. The sessions will take place on September 10 and October 7.

Applications for the program are now open, and the program is set to start in January 2025.
