Whitecap Dakota First Nation Chief Darcy Bear finally received his Order of Canada induction this week.

Bear was named to the Canada’s highest honour in 2020, however, no official ceremony took place because of Covid-19 delays.

Well that has now changed, because on Thursday Chief Bear officially received the Order of Canada from Governor General Mary Simon at a ceremony in Ottawa.

The ceremony also comes days before Bear will also celebrate his 30 anniversary as chief of the Whitecap Dakota First Nation on October 6.
