Update: October 11, 4:21 p.m.

La Ronge RCMP have confirmed that they received a report of a deceased individual at a residence in the Bell’s Point area of the Lac La Ronge Indian Band on October 10.  

Mounties said that they responded and secured the scene for further investigation. 

They stated that due to the circumstances of the incident, Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes is investigating the male’s death, which is considered suspicious. 

The male, who is an adult, has been identified, and next of kin notification is still occurring. RCMP stated they will not provide any more details about the male at this time.

Updates will be provided when available. If an imminent risk to public safety is identified, RCMP will notify the public. 

Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes is asking anyone who may have witnessed suspicious activity in the Bell’s Point area between October 7 and October 10, to contact them. October 10, 2:32 p.m.

In a media release the Saskatchewan RCMP is advising that there is an increased police presence in the Bell’s Point area.

They say this is in relation to an ongoing investigation.

People are asked to avoid the area where officers are present and to follow any police direction provided.

MBC is following this and will issue an update on this investigation as soon as we are able to.

If an imminent risk to public safety is identified, the police will notify the public.
