The Federation of Sovereign Indigenous Nations is scheduled for an election this Thursday in Saskatoon.

Three positions on the executive will be decided by the delegates in attendance.

Bobby Cameron will be seeking re-election as FSIN chief. Cameron, of Witchekan Lake First Nation, is seeking his fourth term as chief. He was first elected in 2015.

Challenging him for the position is Aly Bear who most recently served as the FSIN’s Third Vice-Chief. Bear, of Whitecap Dakota Nation, would be the first woman elected as chief of the organization if she manages to claim victory.

Vice-Chief positions also up for grabs

With Aly Bear stepping down from her position as Third Vice-Chief to run for Chief, her former position is now up for grabs.

Six people have put their name forward for the position. They include:

Reginald Bellerose, Willis Janvier, Fabian Head, Hailey Rose, Wally Burns, and Orrin Greyeyes.

In the meantime, David Pratt will be seeking re-election of First Vice-Chief. He will be challenged by Jocelyn Campbell-Chaplin and Milton Gamble.

Delegates from the 74 First Nations represented by the FSIN will begin their voting on Thursday morning. Polls are projected to close at 11:00 am, which means the results should be announced in the early afternoon.
