It was a busy year for the Prince Albert Grand Council with highlights such as a trip to Ottawa and an Athabasca Vice Chief election which saw Vice Chief Joseph (Smy) Tsannie re-elected to the position.
The year was full of gatherings including the MMIWG+ gathering in Prince Albert and the Gathering of Nations which took place in the summer.
PAGC faced a bad wildfire season with evacuations kicking out over 18-hundred residents of Peter Ballantyne Cree Nation communities. The organization has since launched a fire guardian training program to help better prepare for future wildfires.
The grand council has also been working with provincial and municipal leaders along with organizations to try and find a permanent homeless shelter location in the city of Prince Albert.
PAGC Grand Chief, Brian Hardlotte spoke to MBC News reflecting on the year and spoke about some things to look forward to in 2025.
