Outgoing Lieutenant Governor for Saskatchewan Russ Mirasty reflected on his time in the role with MBC News.

Mirasty, a member of the Lac La Ronge Indian Band, is set to conclude his 5-year tenure as the Crown’s representative in the province on January 31.

In a conversation with MBC News, Mirasty says he was surprised at how quickly the term seemed to go by.

He also says some of his highlights include presenting northern students with academic awards every year.

The former Lieutenant Governor also says he hopes his time in the prestigious role can show Indigenous youth across the province that anything is possible.

The entire interview with Mirasty is available here.

Lac La Ronge Indian Band Chief Tammy Cook-Searson also provided her perspective on Mirasty being the first ever member of the band to serve in the prestigious position.
