Buffalo River Dene Nation (BRDN) is getting ready to hold its general election next week.
A nomination meeting was held on February 14.
Band members will gather to elect five councillors and one chief who will all serve three-year terms.
The current chief and council consists of acting Chief, Dallas Billette, and councillors Melissa Desjarlais, Collin Catarat, Terrance Billette, and Louie Chinalquay.

Melissa Desjarlais, Collin Catarat, and Terrance Billette are also looking to keep their positions as councillors and are running against 11 other individuals.
Advanced polls will be open between 9a.m. and 6p.m. this Friday at the Dillon Band Hall, with the general election taking place between 9a.m. and 6p.m. February 28 also at the Dillon Band Hall.
