Saskatchewan RCMP say they has arrested two people accused in relation to four homicides on Carry the Kettle Nakoda Nation earlier this month.

On February 4 authorities located four deceased persons in a home on the First Nation.

RCMP Major Crimes would soon after declare the deaths a homicide and an investigation would commence.

Mounties say as a result of the continued investigation 18-year-old Darrius Racette and an unnamed youth have been arrested

Darrius Racette is facing four counts of first-degree murder in relation to the deaths of Tracey Hotomani, Sheldon Quewezance, Shauna Fay and Terry Jack.

In the meantime, charges against the youth have not yet been announced.  UPDATE – the youth was charged with four counts of first-degree murder as well.

The RCMP held a press conference on the matter at the RCMP headquarters in Regina late Wednesday afternoon.

“We thank the public for their cooperation and patience as these investigations were conducted. Officers rely on witnesses and members of the community to come forward with information to further investigations,” said Inspector Ashley St. Germaine, Senior Investigative Officer with the Saskatchewan RCMP’s Major Crimes Branch. “We also share our condolences with the families and community members impacted by this tragedy.”

Darrius Racette is scheduled to appear in Yorkton Provincial Court on Thursday.
