The Federation of Sovereign Indigenous Nations is encouraging Saskatchewan First Nation voters to get out and vote on April 28.
The organization sent out a media release Wednesday morning says First Nation voters can have a decisive impact on the upcoming federal election.
FSIN Chief Bobby Cameron says the “power of the First Nation vote” in this election cannot be overstated.
“Every election cycle, we hear politicians make promises to First Nation peoples, but meaningful change will only come when we exercise our collective power at the ballot box,” said Cameron. “We have the numbers to swing ridings and elect representatives who are truly committed to reconciliation, Inherent and Treaty rights, and addressing the pressing needs of our communities.”
The FSIN pointed to several key ridings where they believe First Nation votes will have the largest impact.
These include Desnethe-Missinippi-Churchill River, Battlefords-Lloydminster-Meadow Lake, Prince Albert, Regina, Qu’Appelle, and Saskatoon West.
