The executive director of an elders’ outreach group is excited about a recent designation it has been given.
Mary-Rose Naytowhow reports that Kookums and Moshums against Drugs and Alcohol has officially received its not-for-profit status.
She says the designation will allow the group to move forward with long-term plans.
In particular, the group wants to set up a youth counselling office in either Saskatoon or Prince Albert.
Naytowhow feels a lot of good could come by having elders talking to youth about how to reclaim their spirituality.
She says simple things like healing circles and workshops can mean a lot, when carried out in the right manner.
