FNUC Financial Official Not Fired: Pratt

The president of the First Nations University of Canada maintains the latest official to leave the institution was not fired.
Charles Pratt says Murray Westerlund was also not an employee, nor the chief financial officer, but rather worked as a senior financial consultant.
Pratt says normally the university would not comment on internal personnel matters.
“However, we can certainly clear the air on the rumours that have circulated since (Westerlund’s) departure. I just want to say that we mutually agreed upon ending his services here as a consultant. For the past four years, he worked at the university within a consultant capacity,” he says.
Pratt says he has not been contacted directly by the provincial government, but understands it would like to conduct a review.
While Pratt says he doesn’t think an audit or a financial review is necessary, he says the university is open to and welcomes that.
