Five Mosquito First Nation men facing 10 charges of fraud, theft and forgery will have to wait more than a month before their next court appearance.

The charges relate to the band’s TLE fund.

The cases of Chief Clarence Stone, Councillor Clifford Lawrence Spyglass, and former TLE trustees Gerald Arthur Bird, Alphonse Peter Moosomin and Eldon Edward Starchief – all came before North Batttleford Provincial Court today.

Their cases were adjourned to May 4th.

Stone was the only one who didn’t appear in person.

He faces charges of theft over $5,000 and fraud over $5,000.

Spyglass faces charges of theft over $5,000, fraud over $5,000, forgery, uttering a forged document, and criminal breach of trust.

Starchief, Moosomin and Bird are all charged with theft over $5,000, fraud over $5,000, and criminal breach of trust.

The offences are alleged to have taken place in 2002.

The courtroom was packed.

Judge David Kaiser and a court clerk told people forcefully to be quiet.
