The Whitecap Dakota First Nation has plans to develop an aerospace and military manufacturing industrial business park.

Today the federal government announced it’s providing the reserve $92,000 to pay a consultant to do a technical assessment.

CEO Darrell Balkwill says they’ve had talks with Lockheed Martin and Boeing, two companies that have already established partnerships with the Saskatchewan Indian Institute of Technologies to provide training.

Balkwill says those students may be able to get jobs in this proposed business park.

He says there will likely be another announcement within a month — this time for a destination hotel meant to accompany the casino and golf course.
