A restructuring plan for the First Nations University of Canada was presented to the Indian Affairs minister yesterday in Ottawa.

Chuck Strahl met with interim FNUC president Dr. Shauneen Pete and FSIN Chief Guy Lonechild, who are hoping the minister will restore $4.2 million in federal funding to the university.

According to Indian Affairs official Rod Desnomie, Strahl is emphasizing the need for detail in the FNUC plan.

Specifically, Desnomie says the minister is looking for more than a vision — he wants to see details on responsible fiscal management.

Neither Pete nor Lonechild were available for comment.
