Two La Loche residents have been charged in a hit-and-run half a kilometre south of the northern village.
RCMP say a 21-year-old male pedestrian was struck by a vehicle shortly after 8:00 last night.
The vehicle fled the scene, but the RCMP eventually arrested a 27-year-old man and a 21-year-old woman.
The male suspect is alleged to have been the driver, and is facing charges of failing to remain at the scene of an accident and driving while disqualified.
The female suspect, who the Mounties allege was the passenger in the vehicle, has also been charged with failing to remain at the scene of an accident, as well as public mischief.
RCMP spokesperson Sgt. Carole Raymond says the Criminal Code allows for passengers to be charged in cases like this if there is reason to believe they urged the driver to flee the scene.
There is no word on the victim’s condition.
