Led by a police escort, about 20 marchers from the First Nations University of Canada’s Saskatoon campus made their way through Regina this morning.

Organizers say the solidarity walk was held to activate support for the reinstatement of federal and provincial funding for the university.

They also say the protest was expedited with a recent announcement by the current FNUC administration to shut down the Saskatoon campus, and sell the building and property.

First-year student Audrey Armstrong says some members of the solidarity walk endured snow and rain since leaving Saskatoon Saturday morning.

The marchers eventually arrived at the Regina campus for a rally at around noon.
