No Tripartite Appetite on Education, says Province

A provincial minister says there doesn’t seem to be any appetite for First Nations in this province to sign three-way agreements on education.
This week Indian Affairs minister Chuck Strahl said tripartite arrangements on education were starting to yield tangible, concrete results.
The agreements are in place between First Nations, Ottawa and the provinces of B.C. Alberta, Manitoba, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia.
Saskatchewan’s Minister of First Nations and Metis Relations Bill Hutchinson says he is open to the idea of tripartite deals.
But, he says First Nations have told him they’d rather deal directly with the Federal government.
Hutchinson says if at any point bands want to pursue tripartite deals his office will be happy to talk about it.
