The Federation of Saskatchewan Indian Nations says it likes what the province’s Children’s Advocate had to say in a recent report.
The FSIN says Marvin Bernstein’s yearly update on the status of children in Saskatchewan should keep issues facing Aboriginal kids on the radar of the government.
The executive director of health for the FSIN, Martin Paul, says it’s clear too many children are in care right now.
Paul hopes the work by the Children’s Advocate prompts the government to give more resources to child and family services agencies on reserves.
The FSIN also stresses the province must do more to ensure that First Nations are involved in all aspects of improving the system.
