Roving Diabetes Program Gets Financial Boost

Cameco has presented the Canadian Diabetes Association with a $50,000 cheque.
The money will go towards the group’s travelling diabetes program in the province’s north.
Since 2007, workers with the association have travelled across the province spreading tips on how to live with the disease.
That includes many reserves in northern Saskatchewan.
Liberal Senator Lillian Dyck was on hand for this morning’s announcement.
She says she likes the travelling program’s concept because it helps diabetics who would otherwise have a hard time arranging to see medical specialists.
Dyck says by 2015, 31 per cent of Saskatchewan residents will be Aboriginal — so it’s important to tackle the diabetes issue right now.
