Saskatchewan Aboriginal Unemployment Up 5%

The Opposition is blasting the Brad Wall government over some Aboriginal job numbers in the province.
NDP Employment Critic Cam Broten says the unemployment rate for First Nations people is up nearly 5% over last year.
Broten says these figures demonstrate that the provincial government’s recent cancellation of the Aboriginal Employment Development Program was both wrong and shortsighted.
Last week, the government issued a statement saying that for the ninth consecutive month Saskatchewan had the lowest unemployment rate in Canada.
Broten says this province’s rate may look good compared to other provinces, but he says the strength of Saskatchewan depends on everyone in the province doing well.
