Federation of Saskatchewan Indian Nations officials and supporters were rallying on the grounds of the Legislative Assembly over the noon hour yesterday.

Vice-Chief Lyle Whitefish says it was over the protected wildlife lands that are being sold by the province.

Whitefish says under the duty to consult, the government needs to talk to First Nations first and show them the lands that are up for sale — because the chiefs might be interested in those lands.

He also says there is “something wrong” with the current provincial government, given the number of protesters on hand yesterday for other issues such as affordable housing, the decision to axe SCN, Bill 80 and the ongoing contract stalemate with health workers.
