Calgary-based Oilsands Quest announced earlier this week that it has filed for approval to build a project in northwestern Saskatchewan that could produce up to 30,000 barrels of bitumen per day.

The company sent a proposal to Saskatchewan Environment for approval to build a steam-assisted gravity drainage project at its Axe Lake oilsands project near La Loche.

It also filed for a second one-year extention of its Saskatchewan oilsands permits.

Oilsands Quest also served notice it plans to relinquish two of its northernmost land permits as it focuses on lands where recent exploration activity looks promising.
