A woman who watched a family member kill himself dreams of going to university — and she says it will definitely happen.
Last night, Denise Choumont won the Learner Award at the Saskatchewan Aboriginal Literacy Awards gala.
Choumont is taking her Adult 12 at SIAST and has had some obstacles along the way.
At the age of 9, she lost both of her parents.
Just last year, she witnessed the unexpected suicide of her brother.
Choumont is now raising her brother’s two sons along with her three children.
After she completes Adult 12, she plans on studying human justice at university.
