AFN Worried About Status Of Child Welfare Hearing

The Assembly of First Nations is raising concern over a human rights complaint laid against the federal government.
The complaint alleges discrimination against First Nations children — but the AFN says Ottawa is trying to have it dismissed before a scheduled hearing this week takes place.
Both the AFN and another agency say children in the care of child and family service agencies on reserves receive less resources than other children.
They are calling for the funding formula to be adjusted.
The case is set to be heard by the Canadian Human Rights Tribunal in Ottawa tomorrow.
The Aboriginal Peoples Television Network has been granted access to film the proceedings.
