An official with the Prince Albert Grand Council says no more digging will occur on a local golf course where a set of human remains was recently discovered.

In late April, a worker at Cooke Municipal Golf Course in Prince Albert stumbled upon a skeleton, which was later estimated to be approximately 150 years old.

PAGC Director of Social Development Ernie Sauve says it has been determined by local elders that the remains of the person, who was likely Aboriginal, will be recognized but there won’t be any further disruption of the burial site.

Sauve adds a meeting will take place on June 5th between the PAGC, local Metis representatives and the Department of Heritage to bring closure to the issue.
