A foundation has been established in Saskatoon to help young Aboriginal children be involved in sports.

The Kevin Moccasin Foundation was set up within the last month and honours the memory of Moccasin, who passed away a few years ago.

In the past, memorial basketball tournaments have been held in his name.

One of the foundation’s board members and co-founders, Lorna Ledoux, says sports are a great way to keep kids out of trouble.

The foundation is going to begin fundraising this Monday when it holds a hip-hop night headlined by Joey Stylez, who was a friend of Moccasin’s.

Some of the proceeds from that show will go to the foundation — and Ledoux says proceeds from future shows by Stylez will also go to the foundation.

She hopes they can sponsor between 10 and 20 kids in the fall.
