A new guide book that looks at First Nations justice is now available.

Susan Jolly-Maxie is a justice facilitor and says many people were consulted to develop the curriculum — including elders, restorative justice program participants, and members of the File Hills Qu’Appelle and Touchwood tribal councils.

She says the book looks at all legal issues that affect First Nations from an Aboriginal perspective.

The 300-page Community Justice Guidebook is illustrated, has Cree, Nakota, Dakota and Saulteaux language content, and contains chapters on leadership, treaty rights, peacekeeping and mediation.

Jolly-Maxie says its about reawakening Aboriginal knowledge and ancestral laws.

She also says she was honoured to be part of the process.

The book is being sent to tribal councils across the province.
