A break in the investigation of a fire at the RCMP building on the Moosomin First Nation could come as soon as today, according to an RCMP official.

The back half of the RCMP community office on the reserve was burnt early Tuesday morning.

Residents and RCMP noticed the fire at about 3:30 a.m.

Battlefords Rural RCMP Staff Sergeant Howard Nodwell says the Mounties have been investigating the fire and believe they have some leads.

He says they may have more news on the fire today.

Elliott Kahpeaysewat holds the justice and peacekeepers portfolio on the reserve.

He believes the fire was likely the work of kids.

The band has offered the RCMP another office in its old health building.

Kahpeaysewat says it is more secure than the previous office, which was in a modified house.
