A head-on collision south of La Ronge early yesterday morning has claimed the life of a Prince Albert man.

The 22-year-old victim was one of the drivers, and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The two occupants of the other vehicle, a 43-year-old man and 33-year-old woman who live in La Ronge, had to be removed from their vehicle by the La Ronge Fire Department.

They were taken to hospital with undetermined injuries — but the RCMP don’t have details on their condition.

According to the RCMP, the crash took place about 22 kilometres south of La Ronge on Highway 2 shortly before 1:00 Sunday morning.

RCMP spokesperson Sgt. Carole Raymond says it appears one of the vehicles was able to turn slightly at the last second, causing one of the vehicles to sideswipe the other one.

No names have been released.
