A young Aboriginal marketing entrepreneur is hoping to gain some skills through a national business mentorship program in which he’s paired with financial experts.
Ben Tingley started his own advertising and marketing firm two years ago in Regina.
His company started out as just him, but has since grown to six people.
He is part of a mentorship program put on by the Canadian Council for Aboriginal Business where entrepreneurs are paired with mentors who have skills they hope to gain.
In Tingley’s case, he’s paired with people from the TD Bank and the First Nations Bank of Canada.
Tingley says his expertise is in marketing and advertising, not in finance or accounting.
He plans to meet with his mentors four times over the course of the year-long mentorship.
Tingley says this is a great opportunity because his company doesn’t have the money to hire a chief financial officer.
