Another Metis Election Plagued by Controversy

The MNS can’t seem to avoid controversy when it comes to holding elections.

The CBC is reporting that ballot boxes went missing in Lloydminster yesterday, while other ballot boxes were lost in North Battleford because they were improperly sealed.

As well, Metis elections officials in Prince Albert are being questioned over the way they tabulated votes last night.

And, there’s the potential for more controversy when the official ballot count takes place next week.

In the last MNS election in 2001, the official count that followed the initial count saw more than a quarter of the ballots thrown out because of concerns over voter eligibility.

The move changed the outcome in the voting for MNS vice president and a northern area director position.
