Clean-up is beginning this week on the Kawacatoose First Nation.

Chief Darin Poorman says insurance adjusters have completed their assessments of damages to homes hit by a tornado earlier this month.

Poorman says 18 homes were destroyed while siding and roofing are needed on another 12 homes.

The Chief says the insurance covering the homes is not sufficient enough to rebuild.

Poorman says he is meeting with provincial and federal officials later in the week to discuss government dollars to help recover from the disaster.

Poorman adds that many of the homes will be razed and rebuilt in another location on the reserve.
