North Battleford Mayor Ian Hamilton is pleased with the job city employees did in handling the effects of yesterday’s hail storm.
But, just to be safe, the state of emergency, declared yesterday, remains in effect, possibly until Monday.
City managers and members of North Battleford’s emergency response team held a roundtable discussion about the storm this morning.
That discussion was held after city councillors unanimously passed a motion asking the province for disaster assistance.
City managers said things went pretty well. They’re surprised that only 97 homes have been confirmed has having been flooded.
That figure is expected to rise today as more people report their damage to City Hall.
So far, the Red Cross has been able to provide food and accommodations for all but three out of 11 families. That’s about 45 people in total.
