The Battlefords Boys and Girls Club has moved to a new location after their basement was flooded by Thursday’s hail storm.

During the summer, Aboriginal kids make up half the clientele. During the school year, more than 80 percent of its members are Aboriginal.

Executive Director Sheri Woolridge says staff and volunteers did their best to clean up over the weekend, but the basement is still unusable, so they’ve moved to the lobby of Don Ross Hockey Arena.

Woolridge says that’s fine because most of their activities occur outdoors. They just needed a headquarters with bathrooms.

Woolridge is waiting for adjusters and inspectors to contact her so appointments can be made to assess the basement.

Thousands of dollars worth of games and computer equipment was destroyed in the flood.

Woolridge says the phone is ringing off the hook with donations.
