Northern Saskatchewan Second Lowest Median Income

It appears Northern Saskatchewan isn’t exactly flush with cash.

A new study is out showing the area has the second-lowest median income in Canada.

Gilles Rheaume works for the conference board of Canada, the group carrying out the study.

He says the conference board arrived at the conclusion using data from the 2006 census.

Rheaume says the conference board also found that all five of the census divisions with the lowest median income were in the north.

Northern B.C. and Northern Manitoba are two of the other examples given.

Rheaume says the conference board wants to start a discussion over what policies are needed to change this.
