For the past four years, Saskatchewan First Nations elders and youth have gathered to discuss their concerns and share their knowledge about the environment.
This is the last year for the FSIN’s “Only A Matter of Time” environmental conference, which is being held at Wanuskewin this week.
Vice-Chief Lyle Whitefish hopes to bring together Indigenous youth from around the world next year to “awaken the youth” to global environmental concerns, such as global warming, oil exploration and the nuclear industry.
Workshops at this year’s gathering will focus on Aboriginal species at risk, environmental contaminants and sustainable living.
